Managing a NonVolatile File System

When you delete a file on a memory card, the file becomes inaccessible, but the
data remains on the card. Eventually, all space is used. The
compact command
copies the active files to memory, erases the memory card, and copies the files
back to the memory card. Refer to the section “Compacting F
ile Space” to free up
space to prevent or respond to a file allocation failure.
Displaying a Directory
Use the dir command to display a list of the files on a particular volume. You can
enter the wildcard characters
* and ? to display filenames with the character
strings you specify.
Enter the following to list the files stored on the active volume:
dir
Enter the following to list the files stored on a different volume, where <vol> is
the slot number containing the volume:
dir
<vol>
:
The directory display shows an entry for each file on the volume. Each entry
consists of a filename, size, and modification date/weekday/time. F

shows a sample response to the
dir command on a BLN.
