Using the BCC
You can use the BCC to start IP, RIP, OSPF, and Router Discovery. The following
sections provide instructions for starting these services.
Starting IP
To start IP on the router, you must:
1. Configure a physical interface on an available slot/connector.
2. Configure an IP interface on the physical interface.
Step 1: Configuring a Physical Interface
To configure a physical interface on a slot and connector, go to the top-level box
or stack prompt and enter:
<interface_type>
slot
<slot_number>

module
<module_number>
]
connector
<connector_number>
interface_type
is the name of a link module on the router.
slot_number
is the number of the slot on which the link or net module is located.
module_number
is the net module number (ASN
™
and System 5000
™
routers
only).
connector_number
is the number of a connector on the link or net module.
For example, the following command configures an Ethernet interface on slot 2,
connector 2:
box#
ethernet slot 2 connector 2
ethernet/2/2#
