Setting the Holddown Timer
The holddown timer specifies the delay that occurs after the LSDB changes before
OSPF recalculates the routes. Its purpose is to free up the CPU. A value of 0
means that OSPF will recalculate routes whenever the LSDB changes without
delay.
By default, the holddown timer is set to 1 second. You can use the BCC or Site
Manager to specify a different value.
Using the BCC
To set the holddown timer value, go to the global OSPF prompt (for example,
box;
ip; ospf
) and enter:
holddown
<value>
value
is 0 (no holddown time) or the holddown time in seconds from 1 through 10.
For example, the following command sets the OSPF holddown time to 5 seconds:
ospf#
holddown 5
ospf#
