Parameter: Hello Interval
Path: Configuration Manager > Protocols > IP > OSPF/MOSPF > Virtual Interfaces
Default: 15 seconds
Options: 1 to 65,535 seconds
Function: Indicates the number of seconds between the Hello packets that the router
sends on the interface. Nortel Networks suggests the following values for this
parameter: for broadcast, 10 seconds; for point-to-point, 15 seconds; for
NBMA, 20 seconds; for point-to-multipoint, 15 seconds.
Instructions: Either accept the default value of 15 seconds or set the Hello Interval parameter
to another value from 1 through 65,535 seconds. This value must be the same
for the virtual neighbor and for all routers attached to the same network.

Parameter: Dead Interval
Path: Configuration Manager > Protocols > IP > OSPF/MOSPF > Virtual Interfaces
Default: 60 seconds
Options: 1 to 2,147,483,647 seconds
Function: Indicates the number of seconds that a routers Hello packets have not been
seen before its neighbors declare the router down. This value should be a
multiple (usually 4) of the Hello interval. Nortel Networks suggests the
following values for this parameter: for broadcast, 40 seconds; for
point-to-point, 60 seconds; for NBMA, 80 seconds; for point-to-multipoint, 60
seconds.
Instructions: Either accept the default value of 60 seconds, or enter another value for this
parameter. This value must be the same for all routers attached to the same
network.
