Check the values of the following statistics twice and compare them to

determine whether the media is currently receiving/transmitting frames

and generating errors:

• Reception and transmission statistics

If the reception or transmission statistics do not change, do the following:

-- Check the reception and transmission statistics of the other ports in

the same slot.

-- Try disabling and enabling the port, and check the log messages to

determine why the connection will not activate.

• Error statistics

Look at the forwarding tables of each router in the path to determine the

following:

• Whether entries exist

• Whether the next-hop addresses are in the right direction

Verify the configuration parameters.

Use Packet Capture and a network analyzer to check the segments

involved in the problem.
