Configuring DHCP Services
114070 Rev. A 4-7
For each DHCP parameter, this chapter provides information about default
settings, valid parameter options, the parameter function, instructions for setting
the parameter, and the MIB object ID.
The Technician Interface allows you to modify parameters by issuing
set and
commit commands with the MIB object ID. This process is equivalent to
modifying parameters using Site Manager. For more information about using the
Technician Interface to access the MIB, refer to Using Technician Interface
Software.
To enable DHCP on an interface:
1. Enable BOOTP on the interface.
Refer to “Ena
bling BOOTP on an Interface” in Chapter 3 for instructions.
2. Access the BOOTP Relay Agent Interface Table window (refer to
Figure 3-4).
Refer to “Editing BOO
TP Relay Agent Parameters” in Chapter 3 for
instructions.
3. Set the Pass Through Mode parameter to DHCP, or BOOTP and DHCP.
4. Click on Apply.
This action allows you to select DHCP or BOOTP and DHCP for the Pass
Through Mode parameter in other windows.
5. Edit the other parameters in this window.
Refer to “Editing BOO
TP Relay Agent Parameters” in Chapter 3 for
guidelines.
Editing DHCP Parameters
When you have enabled DHCP services on a router, you can configure the router
software for your specific requirements. Use the remaining sections in this chapter
as a guide.
Caution: The Technician Interface does not verify the validity of the parameter
value you enter. Entering an invalid value can corrupt your configuration.
