Default: 5

Range: 1 to 100

Function: Speciﬁes the number of time periods during which the secondary routers

wait to receive a Hello PDU from the primary router before they

determine that the primary has failed.

Instructions: Enter a number from 1 to 100 or accept the default of 5.

Parameter: Good Bid Count

Default: 3

Range: 1 to 10

Function: Speciﬁes the minimum number of good bids to become primary that are

required from the same secondary router before Auto Role Switching

occurs.

Instructions: Enter a number from 1 to 10 or accept the default of 3.

Parameter: Bid Duration

Default: 45 seconds

Range: 1 to 65,535 seconds

Function: Speciﬁes the number of seconds during which routers bid to become

primary router.

Instructions: Select a value in the speciﬁed range or accept the default of 45. This value

depends on how fast the router reboots with the conﬁgured features. For

example, booting with FDDI interfaces, WAN interfaces with resources

conﬁgured (such as servers and printers), OSPF, and so on, may require a

larger value.
