Specifying the Local DR Priority
The local DR priority indicates the priority level for a DR on the LAN. The higher
the number, the higher the priority.
A PIM router configured with a DR election priority sends to its PIM neighbors a
Hello message that contains its priority level. The PIM router with the highest
priority level is elected the DR for the LAN. Local routers not configured with a
DR election priority level elect a DR based on the highest IP address.
By default, the local DR priority is 1. You can specify a priority value from 1
through 65,535 for a PIM router. To disable the DR election priority level on the
LAN, enter a priority value of 0.
To set the DR election priority level, complete the following tasks:

4. Choose
Interface
. The PIM Interface Parameters window

parameter.

6. Click on
OK
. You return to the Configuration Manager
window.
