Enabling Router Redundancy

To conﬁgure a router redundancy group, you create a group conﬁguration ﬁle. You

then use this ﬁle as a template and apply it to each member of the group twice:

once as a primary ﬁle, which the router uses when it boots as the primary member

of the redundancy group, and then as a secondary ﬁle, which the router uses in its

role as secondary member.

The instructions in this chapter assume that you want to create a router

redundancy group consisting of two members: router Alpha and router Beta. The

conﬁguration ﬁle you apply to these routers is named template. This ﬁle can be an

existing conﬁguration ﬁle to which you are adding router redundancy, or it can be

a new ﬁle you create to conﬁgure router redundancy and other features.

Creating a Group Conﬁguration File

To create a redundancy group conﬁguration ﬁle template, complete the following

steps. All group members will use the values you conﬁgure in this ﬁle.

1. In the main Site Manager window, select Tools > Router Redundancy >

Group Conﬁguration

(Figure 5-1).
