Defining data and telephony settings
You need to identify your system to the intranet or internet your equipment is connected to. This
allows you to use the network connection to access the Unified Manager to set up your system. It also
provides you with other network-related features, such as the capacity for voice over IP (VoIP)
telephony services.
The programming records are divided into four groups of related forms.
• The forms that follow this section all provide general system internet and telephony records.
• The next set of forms provide records for any internet data connections and the MSC settings, which define
the voice network parameters.
• The telephony forms provide records for individual telephones, and for general telephony information such
as schedules and system operations.
• The final set of forms provide records for the optional applications that are included with the base Business
Communications Manager software, including Call Detail Recording, LAN CTE, and Console Service
settings.
Configuration tools
You can use the Quick Start Wizard to set up the initial data and telephony features for your system.
As well there other wizards that can be used to add telephony and DECT records, and renumber the
DN record. Wizards are described in detail in the Business Communications Manager Programming
Operations Guide.
